In today’s market, buying energy efficient appliances, vehicles, lighting, etc., is an important decision consumers are making when purchasing a product. This is no different when it comes to building a new home – especially in Wisconsin where winters are harsh and summers are hot!

This means we are constantly working towards building the most energy efficient homes and implementing the latest in technologies to do so. Energy Testing & Ratings
The HERS index is a nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance. Homes are rated on the HERS scale from 0-150 The lower the HERS score, the more energy efficient your home is, thus saving you more money. The typical existing home on the market – with leaks, drafts and inefficient appliances and mechanicals can rate around 130 while the average new home usually scores about 60-75 on the scale. At Demlang Builders we are not average, our homes score in the 50’s – which means your energy savings and comfort will be maximized in your new home.

Energy savings doesn’t cost more! The “Demlang Energy Savings System” comes standard with each of our homes, meaning these energy cost savings are built-in with the standard pricing of your new home! This includes:
Computer Modeling Ensures no stone is left unturned, looking at the entire home to determine energy efficiency savings opportunities.
Blower Door Test To determine just how leaky the house may be, and to locate air leakage locations throughout the home.
By itself, and in conjunction with the blower door test, allows us to locate cold spots and air leakage points or insulation flaws in hidden locations.
HVAC Airflow Testing
We measure supply and return airflows from the furnace (if this is how your home is heated) to ensure that the system is reasonably balanced.
Ventilation System Testing
It is important to recognize that airflows from ventilation equipment can be a large factor in the home’s ability to expel moisture/odors from the home.
Duct Tightness Testing Duct blaster testing if any ductwork is located outside a conditioned space or other compliance objectives.
Hot Water Heater Power Vent Testing To ensure there is no risk of backdraft and that exhaust gases escape properly.
Spray Foam Insulation Creates an air tight seal in nooks and crannies that may be exposed with traditional insulation.
Air Ceiling Construction Detail Prevents air loss and reduces risk of moisture damage.
